The ceramic works of Beatrice have often been granted in prestigious ceramic exhibitions and competitions in Lithuania, Japan and Korea.
After having graduated at the Vilnius Art Academy, she established her own studio and participated in practical research of ancient Lithuanian ceramic technologies. Her interest for high temperature wood firing techniques brought her into ten years of studies in famous Japanese workshops in Tamba, Shigaraki, Echizen, Tokoname, etc. She was certified by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture as “National Heritage Expert in Lithuanian Pottery”.
In 2014 Beatrice founded the Ceramic Wood Firing Art Centre « Karmazinu Keramika » in Vilnius, where she installed two ceramic kilns and the necessary infrastructure for research and education in wood firing techniques. Since 2016, twice a year, she is the host and the organiser of Anagama ceramic firing practicums that attract dozens of artists from various countries.
The Anagama is an ancestral Chinese (5th century AD) and then Japanese wood firing technique using a chamber shaped kiln. The items are fired at very high temperature (up to 1400 °C) for a long period of time, in this case 6 days and 6 nights. Burning wood produces ash and volatile salts that settle on the clay. The complex interaction between the elements forms a natural ash glaze.
We are very proud to present some of Beatrice’s stoneware in our gallery. They are all exceptional in their beauty and singularity. Each piece is signed.
