I met Eric Rowe for the first time 12 years ago in a small village in the South of France. The municipality had organised a local art exhibition and Eric’s stoneware creations were exposed in the former stone laundry of the village.
Eric is a British potter and a nature watcher who moved to the region of Grasse over 30 years ago. He now lives in the mountains and continues to produce unique stoneware pieces using clay and glazes collected in the nature around his home.
In his e-book “A Potter’s Geology” (available here), he writes about “how a potter can use a little geological knowledge to help him find his materials around him and also perhaps deepen what he may already know about his clay and glazes”.
All pieces we present in the shop are unique. Variations in dimensions, shape, texture or color are possible.
